On May 23, 2024, a working meeting of representatives of the institutes of the Academic Cooperation Association Academ.City was held in the educational and scientific space of the Kyiv Academic University (KAU). The event was attended by scientists from eleven institutes located on the territory of the Academgorodok.
The event was opened by Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Oleh Rafalskyi, who emphasized the importance of creating a science park on the territory of the Academgorodok to increase the opportunities for commercializing scientific developments and attracting funding, and Director of the Kyiv Academic University, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Oleksandr Kordiuk, who emphasized the need to train innovation managers for the successful promotion of scientific projects.
In the first part of the meeting, Oleksandra Antoniuk, Deputy Director for Research and Innovation of the Kyiv State University, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, spoke about the Academ.City project and its implementation plan for this year. Kateryna Vovk, a leading engineer of the Kyiv State Space Agency, PhD in Geology, spoke about the activities envisaged for 2024 as part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on the creation of the Academ.City Science Park and the Cooperation Agreement between the Kyiv City Military Administration and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Kateryna Pylypchuk, representative of Synchroprostir LLC, outlined the plan of activities at Academ.City, including hackathons and focus groups. Volodymyr Nochvay, Head of the Virtual Center for Digital Innovation Volodymyr Nochvay, Head of the Virtual Center for Digital Innovations at the Ukrainian State Agency for Higher Education, raised the issue of Centers for the Collective Use of Scientific Equipment at the scientific institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and spoke about the capabilities of the Ukrainian State Agency for Higher Education to provide services for these centers.
During the meeting, the possibilities of creating conditions for small-scale production on the basis of scientific Academ.Ciry touched upon the issues of openness of science and creating conditions for scientific activity. The participants agreed on the need to disseminate information about the problems that exist between science and industry and to find ways to solve them.
