The RIFF (Research Infrastructures for the Future of Ukraine: Roadmap for Sustained Growth and Recovery) project, which is very important for Ukraine, has been launched. It aims to lay out a roadmap between Ukrainian and European research infrastructures.
The NOSC-UA DIH Virtual Center for Digital Innovation will coordinate the digital direction, which covers the development of e-infrastructures, scientific data space, open science cloud, and supercomputers with “AI factories.” The project kicked off with a consortium meeting at Masaryk University in Brno on September 16, during which participants learned about ESFRI infrastructures such as EIRENE (coordinated by Masaryk University), Instruct, EuroBioImaging, and ECRIN. The head of the Virtual Center for Digital Innovation at the CAU, Volodymyr Nochvay, took part in the work of the ESFRI Domain Coordination Group and the DIGIT-Domain Expert Group (Data Computing & Digital).
On September 17, a conference was also held in Brno, “Conference on Ukraine's Reconstruction in Research and Higher Education,” where project participants discussed current challenges for the development of Ukrainian research infrastructure with the participation of ministries, European research centers, international organizations, and the Ukrainian scientific diaspora. KAU Director Oleksandr Kordiuk gave a guest presentation on the experience of international cooperation at KAU and the project to build the Ukrainian experimental line MAVKA at the Polish synchrotron SOLARIS.
