Industrial Hackathon 2025: when science, business, and government join forces for the future of Ukrainian industry!
Ukrainian industry is undergoing a complex yet crucial transformation. War-related challenges, the need for technological renewal, and aspirations for integration into global value chains are driving enterprises to seek new paths toward resilience and modernization.
To support these processes, the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) initiated the Industrial Hackathon, aimed at implementing innovative developments in Kyiv’s industrial enterprises.
On October 10–11, 2025, the annual corporate innovation session “Industrial Hackathon” took place in the Column Hall of the Kyiv City State Administration. The event was organized with the support of the Department of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of the KCSA within the framework of the City Target Program for Industrial and Entrepreneurial Development 2024–2025.
The event was opened by Oleh Kuyavskyi, Deputy Head of the KCSA for self-government affairs, and Oleh Rafalskyi, Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
In his welcoming remarks, Volodymyr Kostikov, Director of the Department of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, emphasized:
“The Industrial Hackathon is a platform where science, business, and government unite for the development of Kyiv’s industry.
This year, teams are working on real challenges in digital transformation, biotechnology, energy efficiency, and export strategy.
Our goal is to find solutions that enhance the city’s competitiveness, support the economy, and strengthen Ukraine during wartime.”“The Industrial Hackathon is a platform where science, business, and government unite for the development of Kyiv’s industry.

Oleksandra Antoniuk, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Deputy Director for Development and Innovation at the Kyiv Academic University (KAU), Head of the Scientific Committee of the National Council for Science and Technology Development, and initiator of Academ.City, shared the story of its creation:
“The idea of establishing the Academ.City science and technology park originated in 2016 during a visit to the Berlin technology park Adlershof — one of the most successful innovation hubs in Germany. It became a turning point that inspired the creation of a similar initiative in Ukraine.
I realized that Ukraine needs its own space where science, education, and business can work together to form a modern innovation ecosystem.”During the hackathon, participants worked on solving real industrial challenges across several key areas:
Digital transformation: automation, IoT, AI, cybersecurity, data analytics, green reporting
Biotechnologies: bioactive components, biosensors for rapid quality control
Energy and resource efficiency: monitoring and reduction of consumption, renewable energy, waste processing, water purification
Advanced materials: composites, nanomaterials, shape-memory materials, 3D printing, additive manufacturing
Manufacturing technologies: innovative packaging, quality control, CNC systems
Human resources: digital HR tools, staff training automation
The event included expert talks, mentoring sessions, teamwork on industry cases, and final presentations of innovative solutions before the jury.
In the final stage, innovation teams presented their projects, demonstrating new technological solutions for the development of Kyiv’s enterprises.
Among the participants of the Industrial Hackathon 2025 were:
Interagropack LLC, Favor LLC, Kyiv Macaroni Factory LLC, UASTAL LLC, Water Energy Company LLC, Kyiv Margarine Plant PJSC, Paton International LLC, Electron LLC, and Rosa Knitting Factory. As a result, Kyiv’s enterprises received new tools for modernization, while development teams gained opportunities for collaboration with businesses, mentorship, investment, and participation in further acceleration programs.
