Ukrainian tourist destinations need to create modern, up-to-date management tools - an online meeting of sustainable tourism development specialists and cybernetics and mathematical modeling experts was dedicated to discussing this issue.

The discussion was attended by:

  • Tetiana Tymoshenko, expert on sustainable tourism development, associate professor of the Department of Regional Studies and Tourism of the KNEU, visiting scholar at Uppsala University (Sweden)
  • Petro Stetsiuk, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Senior Researcher, Head of the Department of Non-Smooth Optimization Methods at the Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine,
  • Mykola Korabliov, a student of the Kyiv Academic University (KAU), participant of the program to support student and academic research and innovation projects and startups,
  • students of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv Oleksandr Stoyan and Oleh Gubernator,
  • Vadym Horenko, business coach and mentor of the Academia.ua innovation project support programs,
  • Head of Projects and Programs of the Academia.net Natalia Garashchenko.

Modern trends in sustainable tourism management encourage the joining of efforts and the development of joint initiatives by specialists from different fields, using interdisciplinary approaches. Implementation of SMART Destination Management best practices requires, first of all, efforts at the stage of analyzing data on the territory of communities potentially attractive for tourists, determining the optimal direction of tourism that will lead to the greatest socio-economic effects, as well as monitoring the consequences of tourist visits, including control and prevention of anthropogenic pressure and negative environmental impacts. All this can be done using analytical and digital tools for automated data collection and processing.

That is why combining the efforts of sustainable tourism development experts and cybernetics and mathematical modeling specialists will allow the development of digital tools that will help communities stimulate tourism in relatively safe regions of Ukraine even during the war. With certain in-house developments of services and software products for communities within the framework and with the support of the Digital innovation Hub at UAC, it is already possible to participate in European competitions on digital topics.
