Webinar The Potential of Ukraine-EU Biomethane Cooperation

13 February 2025

February 13, 2025, 13:00-14:30 CET (14:00 - 15:30 Kyiv time)

We are pleased to invite you to the webinar, jointly prepared by the Green Deal Ukraïna project, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and the Forum Energii, and the Ukrainian Climate Office implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

As biomethane becomes a priority for Ukraine’s green energy transition, its potential for export to the EU offers a significant opportunity for sustainable cooperation. This webinar will inform about key findings from our recent study, “Harvesting Green Energy: The Potential of Ukraine–EU Biomethane Cooperation,” focusing on the opportunities, challenges, and solutions for biomethane trade between Ukraine and the EU.

We will discuss how the EU’s growing demand for sustainable biomethane, coupled with rising carbon prices, makes it an increasingly attractive market for Ukrainian producers. The session will also address the need for investments in infrastructure and regulatory alignment to unlock the full potential of Ukrainian biomethane exports. Additionally, we will examine how Ukraine can balance its domestic energy needs with export potential and the political commitment required to drive this transition forward.
